good friday morning. thanks for joining us. i'm eric thomas. and i'm kristen sze >> a deadly shooting occurred less than two hours ago. amy hollyfield is there live. what is the latest? >> reporter: it happened at a karaoke bar a crowded one we've seen groups of witnesses gathered around police cars as officers try to talk to them. behind me the scene is still very active. officers with thrash lights out, looks like they are searching for something in this -- parking lot. there are several police cars here. we've seen them trying to talk to groups of witnesses. this happened about 2:30 in the morning. a 24-year-old man was shot and

killed. police don't know why. this is in the 2100 block of center road in san jose. police are trying to talk to the witnesses about what happened. a lot of them scattered. looked like it was a bit of a chaotic scene after the shooting happen. many did not want to talk to us. police tell us they are not releasing the name of the victim. they are still trying to work on notifying his relatives. looks like this is going to be an active scene truth the morning. we will be here. stay with us for updates. amy hollyfield, abc7 news. we also have developing news, new video of the suspect. he led chp on a 15 mile chase. terry mcsweeney is live where the action ended. >> reporter: that is 680 behind me just about where it ended stone valley road. it is not the fact the car was

stolen, not the fact the man was arrested, it is what happened in between. take a look at a listen. that's the sound of the vehicle riding on is rims. police and chp spotted the vehicle in bay point, determined it was a stolen pick-up truck. the chase was on. police used spike strips so this wouldn't be a high speed chase and it wasn't, no chase at all there. was a chase 55 miles per hour throughout the guy kept going but never over the speed limit. tough to go that fast without tires. now, take a look at other video at 680 in alamo, 10:30 last night a half hour worth of chase transpired. the suspect under arrest in a chp car you are going to see him wearing a cap that says, "certified dope."

just wanted to point it out. half an hour worth of chase in what police are saying is a stolen vehicle ending in alamo last night. spectacular individual grow along with it. terry mcsweeney, -- video to go along with it. terry mcsweeney, abc7 news. concord police department recommending a teenager be charged with felony vehicular manslaugher in an accident that killed a father and his 9-year-old daughter. we are not showing the 17-year-old because he's a minor. prosecutors will now decide what the teen should be charged with in the deaths of the father and daughters riding their bikes april 7th, investigators say the teen lost control of his vehicle and ran into them. a business owner says the tragedy has cast a shadow over the community. >> i don't know whether he had anything in his system to cause any of it or texting or

any of that kind of stuff. i just know that, you know, everyone is a victim in this whole thing. most of all the family that lost the father and daughter. >> police are not releasing the findings from their investigation. detectives analyzed data from the suv's sensors and reviewed whether the driver was distracted from his cell phone or under the of alcohol. police investigating whether the suspect in the sierra lamar case may have tried to prey on other children before. antolin garcia-torres is in jail accused of killing the 15-year-old. he's being investigated for assault at a safeway in morgan hill three years ago. now police are looking into whether a man in a sketch who tried to lure four children in two incidents last summer is garcia-torres. police won't say if he's a suspect. they did say the whereabouts of the potential suspect are known and poses no threat to

the public. >> gives me chills thinking about it. sometimes it takes unfortunately, multiple crimes or attacks or attempts before something like that is put to an end. >> meanwhile in the sierra lamar case, the public defender that was assigned to garcia-torres stepped down yesterday, citing a conflict of interest. friends and family of a teenager who was shot to death by police in south san francisco are accusing police of racial profiling. they gathered last night at the arco station where an officer shot 15-year-old derrick gaines of san bruno. his family says police overreacted. gaines and a friend were walking and stopped by an officer for what police called suspicious behavior. according to police, gaines ran, then pointed a gun at an officer who shot him. police recovered a gun at the scene but have not said fit was loaded. warning going out to residents about -- about a new rash of catalytic converter thefts from parked vehicles,

part of the exhaust system can fetch more than $100 a piece. the sheriff's office says six thefts have occurred late at night. officials say the thieves target 1997 to 1999 toyotas because those vehicles are higher up so the converters are easier to reach. alameda prosecutors decided not to file charges against seven of the nine occupy the farm protesters arrested last month. 100 uc police officers cleared the 10 acre tract may 14th. some of the protesters had been living and planting crops on the land. uc filed a lawsuit in civil court they want to ban protesters from trespassing and further farming. prop 29 supporters are not ready to concede defeat even throw the cigarette tax measure is still trailing by
